Curries are something that is loved by people all around the world. But, when you combine it with things that are rich in protein, it can even help you to lose more weight when you are on a diet. When taken incorrect manner, spices are never bad for your health. Instead, they can help you get fit while comforting your taste buds at the same time.

Losing weight is a challenging task but if you choose right foods to compete with your starvation, losing weight ain’t that difficult. Soya chunks are enriched in protein and low in fat content, therefore, becomes the best ingredient for weight loss.

Have a look at a soyabean inspired recipe which can help you shed some extra pounds without starving:


  • 250 gm baby corn
  • 1 medium sized broccoli head (cut into florets)
  • water
  • 1 cup (250 ml) soya chunks
  • 1 cup packed grated coconut
  • 3 to 4 tomatoes, boiled and peeled
  • 2 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2” stick cinnamon
  • 6 cloves
  • 1/2 tsp peppercorns
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 3/4 tsp to 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp asafetida
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • salt(to taste)


First of all, submerge the broccoli and baby corn in water and cook till they become tender. Now, add a pinch of salt and cook your soya chunks in 3-4 cups of water in a saucepan.

After cooked, drain the soya chunks and take all the water out. Now rinse with cold water and squeeze dry them using your hands.

After that, roast all the spices and seeds in a small pan for 3-4 minutes. Now blend these spices with tomatoes and coconut to make a smooth puree. Thereafter, heat the oil in a saucepan and add asafetida and ginger to it and stir for about a minute.

Now, add the puree to it and cook for around 4 minutes. Stir the vegetables and the soya chunks along with water. Add salt as per your taste and serve hot.
