Compared to men, women are twice as likely to develop depression. The new research focused on a hormones that organise stress responses in mammals found females are more responsive to it. Women have a stronger genetic predisposition to developing depression. Women are generally more involved in relationships than men since they are more emotional and sensitive. So relationship problems are likely to affect them more and so they are more likely to get attacked by depression.
